First up is Sarah Buck, one of our Senior Recruiters. Sarah is a fantastic example of what makes RPO recruiters unique. Let’s get to know Sarah …

What’s wonderful about working for Advanced RPO & why would someone want to work here? 

Three words that come to mind are teamwork, variety, and the challenge every day brings! We have an amazing team and leadership who truly care about you as a person. Our team collaborates and gets creative to come up with new strategies and ideas to not only succeed individually, but as a whole.

What do you enjoy about recruiting? What drew you to this field?

I stumbled into recruiting by accident, it’s something I never imagined myself doing. The more I learned about recruiting, the more I loved it! There is something very satisfying in knowing I made a difference in someone’s life by helping them advance their career and find their dream job.

What do you think makes an exceptional RPO recruiter?

An exceptional RPO recruiter needs to be able to handle pressure well. They have to be be goal-oriented, creative, ambitious, and hungry for results. One needs to be able to be a good “people connector” and you have to know how to use every conversation as a networking opportunity.

How do you see the recruitment marketplace changing right now? What do you think is one of the most important trends in recruiting?

Recruiting is always changing which is why you need to be a continuous learner. It has certainly become a candidate’s world; the market is competitive and candidates are “in the driver’s seat.” Candidates want to know as much as possible about the job, company, and culture. If they can’t find enough information on social media sites, they will not be interested, so employer branding is critical. As a recruiter, I need to be prepared to have a meaningful conversation about every aspect of the job and I have to understand the culture of every organization I support.

What advice do you have for anyone who is looking for a new job?

Be patient, do your research on the company, and do something you love! Your job/career is your livelihood, it should be something you are passionate about. I always encourage my candidates to make sure the job is the right fit personally and professionally.

Why would someone want to work with Advanced RPO?

Because we are the best RPO in the business! Honestly, we are truly a unique team with a variety of skill sets and a strong dedication to finding top talent for every client we support. Our entire team goes beyond just bringing qualified candidates … we create a partnership through the entire hiring process.

Life is crazy. What keeps you sane? How do you recharge?

My family and a good long run! As crazy as life with 3 kids can be, spending time with them and making memories keeps me (relatively) sane. There is something about being able to see life through the eyes of children. Whether it’s with my 5, 10, or 13 year old, they always give me a new perspective on almost any situation.

Lastly, any quotes, mantras or inspiration for our readers?

It sounds so cliché but “keep a positive attitude.” No matter the challenge, I attack it head on with positivity. It’s not always easy, but I find by staying positive yields far better results than being negative. The only thing I can actually control is how I react to life!
